22nd March

First thing this morning the table arrived. It was placed temporarily up in the kitchen so that it did not get in the way of the carpet layer. You can see how it is off-set , or cantilevered. The wood is almost identical with the floorboards.

The fridges arrived at an extremely hectic time in Hunter St. The blokes who delivered them were terrific and carried them upstairs without complaint, although I did notice a few drops of blood on the floor!

The  carpet layer worked away all day and will finish tomorrow.

Steve continued to source dragon trees. He is becoming quite the expert on "mops" and branches.

It was great to hear from Laura and Patty and others who want to see the place finished. The move across won't be seemless as the shower still won't be finished until next week. We may have to go door knocking, begging for a shower around town!

 Last night I celebrated my birthday at the local: The Washtub, with Chris, Jerry and Lester. Good fun! This morning a parcel arrived for me from Bernie and Jacqueline; Julia Child's, "The Art of French Cooking, Vol. 1". (I had been given Vol. 2 at Xmas.) I certainly hope my cookery skills improve in this new kitchen. There are expectations! Below is Bern's card;
