10th February

Today, Steve and I went on a trip to Thornton. To those non-locals, it's up near Beresfield where I used to teach in 1974. Half way between Newie and Maitland. In those days it was semi-rural. These days it is an industrial estate. We checked out water features in a pool shop and then outdoor louvre roofing. A successful fact-fnding mission.

I've also passed several hours  further deliberating about carpet and today the new dimension of linen and printed fabric entered the headspace.

Greg and Richo worked on  finishing the stairs to the front door. Pretty fiddly work. The solar panels came closer to installation but further paperwork with Energy Australia is required. More gyprocking...

The stairs to the street are being prepared for carpeting.  They were covered with layers of lino and packing. It has been pretty  involved, blocking them in. More importantly, blocking in the  precarious drops on each side has been good. They no longer have the metal, industrialised appearance and now they are domestic constructions.

Tomorrow we begin celebrating Lester's birthday. Always a culinary indulgence...or three!
